Long Island Railroad Selects Ritron Locomotive Radios

Ritron, Incorporated said Tuesday, June 17, 2013 it has delivered an order of 59 of its American designed and built, RCCR - 151 narrowband analog, locomotive radios to the Long Island Railroad in Hollis, NY. The procurement was awarded in March 2013 to Ritron's authorized dealer, Diversified Electronics Systems located in Forest Park, GA.

Carmel, Indiana based Ritron, Inc. noted that the Long Island Railroad is a commuter rail system serving the length of Long Island, from Manhattan to the easternmost tip of Suffolk County, NY. It is the second busiest commuter railroad in North America. The purchase included Ritron's RCCR one - piece, narrow band capable model. The same radio is future "upgradeable" to the accepted Class 1 railroad digital transmission standard, referred to as "NXDN” Digital. The FCC established a January 2013 deadline for radio users to switch from wideband analog technology to narrow band analog or very narrow band digital radio technology.

Ritron, Inc. is a privately held corporation located in Carmel, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. Founded in 1977, the company specializes in the design and manufacture of a wide range of industrial - grade wireless communication products and systems.
